Anthony "Tony" Ciufo died on January 22, 2018 of complications from heart and kidney transplants at Massachusetts General Hospital while surrounded by his wife and sons.
Tony was born on July 24, 1957 in Springfield, Vermont the son of Antonio and Aili (Oja) Cifo.
Tony graduated from Black River High school in 1975 and attended the University of Vermont. After spending several years in the Lake Tahoe area, working in the ski industry, he returned to Ludlow and married Angi Benson on July 18, 1992, and together they raised their two sons, Nick and Topher who Tony loved above all. He was a proud champion of all of their endeavors. Tony owned a building company and was proud of the beautiful homes he built in the area. He was an avid water skier, enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, bicycling, camping, Union College hockey and loved his time on Lake Rescue in his boat. He cherished his family and friends and will be remembered by his uncanny ability to forge meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life.
Tony spent several months in hospital at Massachusetts General Hospital during the transplant process and his family thanks his excellent team of providers including Dr. Matthew Nayor, Natasha Lever, C-NP and the entire Heart Transplant team members as well as the wonderful nursing staff at MGH.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Angi, two sons Nick and Topher, his sister Cindy Billings and her husband Jeff; Uncle, Sal Ciufo; Nephews, Trevor Benson, Tyler Billings and Garrett Benson; Nieces Erika Benson, Ashley Billings and Emily Benson and many cousins. He is predeceased his parents and aunts and uncles.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday January 26th from 4 to 7pm at Willie Dunn's at Okemo Mountain Resort. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday January 27th at 2:00pm at the Church of Annunciation in Ludlow.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday June 2, 2018 at 12:00noon in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow, Vermont
