Obituary

West Windsor, Vermont

Ann Rogers Ackley, 59, died peacefully on Saturday April 11, 2020 at the Jack Byrnes Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Ann was born on June 23, 1960 in Ipswich, MA the daughter of George Cecil and Barbara (Walker) Ackley.

Ann dedicated much of her time to being part of the lives of children, family, animals and all the activities that brought them together. Her work at the Albert Bridge and Reading Schools brought her into the lives of young people where Ann was able to forge friendships and make a difference that lasted for years after. She found great joy in helping children with special needs. Ann also spent countless days and hours helping teach as a professional Ski Instructor at both Mt Asuctney and Suicide Six Ski Areas. Ann also spent many years working for Jack Henderson at Henderson's ski shop in Quechee.

Ann's work and volunteerism brought her into the lives of animals as well. She worked at the Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, she was an active volunteer for the Vermont Disaster Animal Recovery Team, she was certified as a therapy dog trainer and was very attached to her therapy dog Bridgett. She also enjoyed introducing young children to horses and horseback riding. In recent years Ann was very active at the Ascutney Outdoors Center where she served as the volunteer coordinator. Her love of skiing and being able to look up at the mountain and see daily year round activities brought her great joy. A trail was named in her memory "Ann's Alley" where everyone can take one last run with her, remember her smile and hear her laugh.

Through all of Ann's activities anyone could see that bringing together family, kids, animals, farm life and especially beautiful flower gardens was how she found ways to share her bright smile with those around her.

She is survived by her mother Barbara Ackley, her father George Ackley, her brother Bruce Ackley, his two children Erin and Brent, his sister Betsy Ferris her husband Chris and their daughter Lexie, and her life long friend Kelly Hull.
